Christine Nixon

Ex-presidente da Victorian Bushfire Reconstruction and Recovery Authority 2009/2010

As former Chair of the Victorian Bushfire Reconstruction and Recovery Authority, from February 2009 to September, 2010, Christine Nixon oversaw the largest recovery and rebuilding operation Victoria has ever undertaken. Under Christine's leadership the Authority worked with 109 affected communities, businesses, charities, local councils and other government departments to help people rebuild. Christine's priority was to help communities recover and rebuild respectfully and in a timely manner.

From September, 2010 to July 2011, Christine was the Victorian Government's Volunteer Advisor on bushfire Reconstruction and Recovery. Christine continues to support affected communities and works with the bereaved community. She remains a member of the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal Fund panel which raised and distributed more than $A400 million.

Prior to joining the Authority, Christine was the Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police leading 14000 staff and overseeing an annual budget of 1.7 Billion dollars. Christine is currently Deputy Chancellor of Monash University, the largest university in Australia. Christine also Chairs Good Shepherd Microfinance.
